We believe that the best stories come from genuine moments, thoughtful preparation, and a clear plan. Our goal is to make your experience on set not only productive but—dare we say it—fun. Here’s how you can prepare for your project and what to expect when working with our team.

What to Wear on Camera

First and foremost, we want you to feel comfortable and confident. This is your moment, so choose the outfit that makes you feel like a million bucks (just maybe not in neon green). For the best look on video, we recommend:

  • Simple, solid, muted earth tones. These colors translate beautifully on screen.
  • Avoid bright colors, pastels, and tight patterns. These can be distracting or fail to reproduce well on video.
  • Blues are always a winner. Wear blue, and we’ll probably be fast friends.

Why We Don’t Share Our Interview Questions with Participants in Advance

We get it—being interviewed on camera can feel intimidating, and it’s tempting to want questions ahead of time. But here’s why we don’t share them:

  • Prepared answers feel rehearsed. Even the most thoughtful preparation can strip away authenticity, turning a genuine conversation into a performance.
  • Scripts create unnecessary stress. Many people believe they need to “get it perfect” on camera, but that’s where editing comes in. We piece together the best moments so you don’t need to memorize or deliver anything flawlessly.
  • Our team is known for our integrity. We ask questions boldly yet with sensitivity, making interviews feel like conversations. Unlike random freelancers or news crews rushing to grab soundbites, we’re a dedicated team of professional storytellers with years of experience conducting filmed interviews. We know how to ask the right questions and create a relaxed environment that brings out your best.

No scripts, no pressure, no terrorizing you on set—just a conversation that feels natural and true to your voice. And with our skilled crew at the helm, you’ll look and sound your best without even trying.

What to Expect on Set

We approach every project with care, creativity, and a commitment to quality. Here’s how we make the day flow smoothly:

  • Planning and preparation. Everything starts with pre-production. On shoot day, we’ll follow a well-organized plan that accounts for every detail, from shot lists to schedules.
  • Setting the scene. It takes about 45-60 minutes to set up and light each interview space. This ensures that every shot is perfectly framed and lit, giving your video a cinematic edge.
  • Quiet on set. We aim to keep distractions minimal and sound quality pristine. A waiting area for participants is always helpful to keep the space clear and calm.
  • Interviews that feel like conversations. Our team guides the process so naturally that you might even forget the camera is there.
  • Capturing cinematic covering shots. High-quality, visually compelling “B-roll” footage supports the story and keeps your video dynamic. No one wants to watch three minutes of straight interviews—that’s why we capture moments that show your story in action.

Finding the Perfect Location

The best locations aren’t just visually appealing—they also need to sound great. Here’s what we look for:

  • Spacious, quiet environments. Minimal foot traffic and background noise are key for clean audio.
  • Visually interesting backdrops. A good setting adds context and personality to your story. Details in the background can subtly reinforce your message.
  • Advanced preparation. Snap a few photos of potential locations and send them our way. It helps us plan ahead and ensure everything looks perfect on camera.

Why B-Roll Matters

Interviews are the backbone of your story, but they’re only one piece of the puzzle. To create a video that captivates and engages, we rely on covering footage, or “B-roll,” to:

  • Add depth and context. Dynamic visuals enhance the narrative, showing your audience the story instead of just telling them.
  • Keep the audience engaged. A video made up entirely of interviews can feel static or dull. B-roll brings it to life with energy and variety.

By following these steps, we’ll create a smooth, enjoyable experience and a final product you’ll love. Whether it’s your first time on camera or your hundredth, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

Let’s make something extraordinary together.
