A slide full of program statistics won't inspire anyone to raise a paddle. A three-minute film about one person whose life changed because of your work absolutely will. It's not all feels with no ROI. It's how modern philanthropy works.
Storyteller Studios is an Emmy® Award-winning video production company. For thirteen years we've built documentary-style fundraising films, mission stories, and impact films for nonprofits and faith-based organizations across 23 states. About half of everything we make is for the nonprofit sector. The thread connecting all of it is the same. Real people, on camera, telling real stories.
That's the part most production shops can't or won't do, especially with sensitive stories. It takes a crew that knows how to make someone comfortable sharing the hardest chapter of their life. It takes editors who can find the moment in two hours of interview footage that says everything in twelve seconds. It's harder and slower than canva and a voiceover. But it works. And keeps working.
We're calling it Storyteller Small Batch. And if you're in business in Springfield or Sangamon County with 25 or fewer employees, it's for you.
"When we first started talking about producing a professional video, one of our biggest concerns was the cost. Great video production is an investment, and it's certainly not cheap. It's one of the best investments we've made."

How much does a nonprofit video cost?
Most of our nonprofit clients spend $5,000–$20,000 per project, depending on scope, shoot days, and deliverables. Travel-based projects typically start closer to $7,000. Our video production cost guide breaks down real budget tiers with example projects.
What types of nonprofit videos do you make?
Four, mostly. Fundraising campaign films built for capital campaigns and year-end pushes, event and gala films engineered for the moment before the ask, mission story videos that answer what your organization actually does, and impact story films where one person tells their own story in their own words. One shoot usually produces several cuts, so a gala film, a web version, and social cutdowns often come from the same project.
How do you handle sensitive stories?
With a lot of care. We interview with dignity and never publish footage without approval. Many of the people in our films are sharing the hardest chapter of their lives. We treat that like the privilege it is.
When should we book before a gala or campaign?
Most fundraising films take six to twelve weeks from kickoff to final delivery, so we recommend starting the conversation at least three to four months before your event. Our production calendar is first come, first served, and fall gala season fills early.
Where are you based, and how far do you travel?
We're based in Springfield, Illinois, with primary markets in Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Des Moines, and Louisville. We've filmed in 23 states and two countries. We travel.
Do you use AI in any part of your process?
We use AI where it helps and avoid it where it hurts. It's useful for transcription, organizing footage, audio sweetening, and back-end project management. We don't use it to generate scripts, voiceover, on-camera talent, or imagery. The story your donors watch is built from your actual people.
What if we can't afford professional video?
Ask us about Stories Untold, our program providing free video storytelling services to qualifying nonprofits. If your mission is strong and your budget isn't, we still want to hear from you.
